Pi Sigma Alpha is the National Political Science Honor Society, the only honor society for college students of political science and government in the United States. It was founded in 1920 at the University of Texas, Austin for the purpose of bringing together students and faculty interested in the study of government and politics. There are now over 850 chapters of Pi Sigma Alpha located on college and university campuses in every state of the United States and one in Canada. Purdue University Northwest campus is the official Tau Psi Chapter. At PNW, in addition to being an honor society, we also operate as a student club, and we welcome all students, regardless or major, to join us and to learn and discuss politics, civics, and current events! In 2022, our chapter received the Pi Sigma Alpha Best Chapter Award for third year in a row!

(PNW) competes yearly in international collegiate competitions sponsored by SAE and
leading automotive manufacturers. The SAE Baja competitions require students to design
and fabricate a single seat off-road vehicle. This competition requires talents such as
engineering, project management, advanced machining, and fabricating skills. The major
goal of this competition is to prepare students for real world applications by providing
hands-on experience. The SAE Baja team also competes in unofficial events such as Baja

The mission of Reel Justice is to explore the portrayal of crime and the criminal justice in film by watching films together and then having discussions about them. This club will discuss how these films differ from the reality of crime and the criminal justice and whether portrayals of crime and criminal justice can impact the way they are perceived by society. Faculty members will occasionally attend meetings to provide context about the area of crime or criminal justice depicted in the film and engage in the club's discussions. There will also be organized trips to movie theatres to watch new releases that are related to crime and criminal justice.

Kindness that results in a positive school climate and peer support within it play big roles in academic success. So much of the achievement of academic success stems from self-esteem, and bullying directly depletes that. Yet so many college students have either witnessed or endured bullying from a peer or a professor. Bullying can lead to low self-esteem, depression, shyness, anxiety, and stress. That can in turn lead to low exam grades and success in college. On top of bullying, there is so much negativity and unkindness in the world overall. That is why SHINE is so important. In this program, students will partake in as many acts of kindness as they can, as well as attend special SHINE events that promote positivity on campus and beyond. They will attend meetings to discuss the importance of kindness and positivity and plan out future events, journal about their experiences, and work through difficulties they have had with negativity while promoting these important factors campus wide.

The STARS Leadership Corps (SLC), or in PNW, the STARS Computing for Underrepresented Students, is a proven, flagship program for building capacity and igniting action for students. In the club, college faculty support college student teams to develop and lead service learning projects that are grounded in providing equitable access to inclusive computing education as an issue of social justice, provide a socially relevant context for CS knowledge, and present opportunities for meaningful practice of CS skills; building these connections and skills through leadership participation is a key part of the STARS approach to increasing persistence in computing degree programs.

Dancing makes guard members’ skill on equipment even higher, because they can move their bodies in an enhanced way. Flag spinning, also known as flag dancing, is a form of performance art where flags are spun and waved in a rhythmic fashion with music while dancing majorette style. Committed to excellence, teamwork, and creativity, the team fosters school spirit through their performances at campus events. The Westville campus is a beautiful resource for our university. Unfortunately, many of us have experienced a decline in classes and programming offered at the Westville campus. It is so important to emphasize the value of the Westville campus, the Hammond campus, and Gabis Arboretum and show just how many students care. The Westville Warriors are dedicated to working to ensure the Westville campus always has the classes that the community needs, as well as equal events and programming in comparison to our counterpart, the Hammond campus. Our mission is to advocate that every student should have equal access to PNW education no matter what their major, location, race, financial status, disability, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, veteran status, or any attribute or defining status. Though we are working primarily to build up the Westville campus, we will also work to speak up if we see an imbalance of programming on the Hammond campus, or at Gabis Arboretum. Our main goal is to come together to make sure that all portions of our one university are equally strong! We will continuously spread awareness for our organization so that students know they can come to us when experiencing scheduling issues; we will not only help guide them to their advisors and appropriate faculty, but also assemble a living list of the programming needs of Westville students and surrounding community members. As an organization, we believe that no student should have to change programs or leave PNW altogether because they are unable to commute. Students work too hard to get to college to be made to choose against a program they truly want, or commute to a location that is inconvenient for them, when PNW offers a more convenient option, whichever location that might be. When we consider the fact that so many of our students are working and are supporting their families while continuing their education, emphasizing the importance of meeting them where they are is paramount. In addition to these initiatives, the Westville Warriors will advocate for equal access to education as a whole. We will hold repetitive fundraisers and events to raise funds so that we can support impoverished students and help ensure that all students have access to the resources that they need.

Our vision of socialism is profoundly democratic, feminist, and anti-racist.

YDSA is a space in which students, campus workers and community youth can learn from one another and be empowered to fight against the most pressing social justice issues impacting our communities. We educate our fellow students on how capitalism is negatively impacting every social justice issue from immigration rights to free healthcare to stopping global warming, and to organize campaigns that will combat these threats to our right to a better world. We practice radical solidarity with other campus and community groups that are fighting for justice, equality and liberation, and push for a true democracy in our campuses and local communities that will serve as the ground for for a democratic socialist future.
Through our biannual conventions, we democratically determine what the next overarching goals and positions for YDSA will be and how to put them into practice.
