SSF Annual Request Readiness!
As Part of the Re-Registration Process, you will be asked to create an SSF Funding Proposal for next year.
Here are some Highlights from the presentation to look out for when making your request
DECIDE YOUR AMOUNT
- The minimum amount student organizations will receive is $500
- The Maximum amount any student organization will receive is $2500.
- Choose between Automatic $500 OR between $500-$2500
- IF YOU TAKE THE AUTOMATIC $500, YOU DO NOT NEED TO REQUEST ANY MORE FUNDS.
- $500 requests can be spent in these four categories
- Supplies
- Giveaways
- Food
- Apparel
- ASKING FOR MORE THAN $500
- All requests over $500 will need to complete this document and submit when completing the Re-Registration Form: SSF Proposal Sample Document.xlsx
- BE BRIEF, BUT SPECIFIC.
- The easier your request is for the committee to understand, the better
- Broad requests such as the examples below can be strong if your organization isn’t quite sure how exactly their funds will be used in a given year but are open to a fair amount of interpretation from the SSF Committee
- EX. “Food for Events and Meetings - $250”
- EX. “Supplies for Events and Meetings - $300”
- Specific Requests for items or events that are held annually are helpful for the SSF Committee to see, but your organization may be “Locked” into purchasing those items or hosting those activities
- EX. “Pizza Party Club’ “Annual Pizza Party Event”” - $800
- Annual Pizza Party Event $300
- Supplies and decorations “” - $150
- Marketing Materials “” - $50
- Giveaways “” - $100
- Crafts “” - $200
- If the Pizza Party Club does not host their “Annual Pizza Party Event” in the FY 26-27 School Year and they instead try to use those funds for something else, it’s likely their request will be denied (during the year they try to use their funds)
- SSF Related Questions
- As you prepare your Annual SSF Request Document, you will be given the opportunity to answer 3 questions to help strengthen your Org’s proposal. Those questions are below:
- Please write a detailed explanation of your spending proposal, and how it will enhance campus life, allow opportunities for leadership development, and/or promote greater student engagement.
- To the best of your knowledge, if your organization has been approved for SSF Funding in the past but not used it, please explain why the funding was not used as planned
- If there is anything else that your organization would like the SSF Committee to know in reviewing your SSF funding application, please add it here
- While you answer the questions above it’s helpful to think about some of the items below
- Engagement with the MyPNWLife Platform
- Attendance at Events and or Meetings
- Number of Events Held
- Show Interaction and engagement at your events (EX. Pictures, Evaluations, ETC.)
- The SSF Committee will also look to see if you have spent your SSF currently allocated to your organization throughout the year
More Helpful Hints
- Be specific about how you intend to use the money.
- Don’t expect to get any funds for travel. It is technically allowed to ask, but you are not likely to get it with so little money available to spread around.
- You can’t fundraise with SSF money so don’t ask for funds to assist with this.
- We will not award over $2500. We just can’t. There are too many groups so be realistic and frugal.
- Don’t miss deadlines! Missed deadlines will result in losing your ability to get funds. If an emergency comes up, contact studentlife@pnw.edu.
