QC Workshop in action: faculty and students decoding a quantum circuit

Dear QLeapers & Friends,

I'm excited to share that on Tue 4/15, we will be teaming up with the Investment Club for a joint event on Quantum Finance, where we will explore an alternative "String Theory" -- a common thread that not only connects the dots from EPR (particle entanglement) to EBITDA and IRR (finance & investment), from QUBO to Monte Carlo and Crypto (ditto), but also strikes a deep chord with AI, offering new ways to understand how it works and where it’s headed.

Co-sponsored by the Finance & Accounting Club (FAC) and the STEM Student Union (SSU), this event marks a new initiative that we are piloting to bridge the long-standing divide between STEM and non-STEM student communities -- a collaboration we hope will spark more cross-disciplinary exchange and innovation on campus.

We are also involved in the organization of a number of exciting regional events this summer:

  • June 10: a second collaboration between The Qampus Club (a college quantum consortium consisting of Purdue-PNW & PWL, UChicago, UIC, Northwestern, IIT and UW) and the Union League Club of Chicago (ULCC), featuring Nick Farina, co-founder and CEO of Chicago-based QC startup EeroQ
  • July (date TBD): a special event during Tech Week Chicago
  • And still more to come... stay tuned!

For those interested in quantum careers, please check out this Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE) Recruiting Forum on Thu 4/24 at UChicago.

Better still, check out these 2 new quantum courses coming to PNW this Fall (flyers attached) or talk to your advisor --

  1. Our Quantum Future - With no math involved, this course was specifically designed for non-STEM majors, such as those pursuing a business and management career.
  2. Intro to Quantum Computing - Designed to help prepare those more technologically-inclined for the coming convergence of AI & Quantum Computing.

Finally, a small group of us is heading to Yale to participate in their annual Quantum Hackathon. Expect news and photos soon!

Yours Entangled,
Shawn
