About Us

The mission of the Department of History, Philosophy, Politics, and Economics is to contribute to the teaching, service, and research goals of Purdue University Northwest, by offering a welcoming environment that encourages student-faculty interactions. Our curriculum will prepare students with a better understanding of (1) history and its lessons; (2) philosophy, self, and society; (3) politics and how it affects their lives; and 4) economic issues that confront our society. Through a rigorous curriculum and experiential education, our department motivates students in engaged learning, prepares them to develop strong problem-solving and career-oriented skills. Our programs promote ethical leadership, the pursuit of self-discovery, the exploration of the adventures and mysteries of the past, and an openness to diverse ideas. We create a vibrant community where students find intellectual homes and prepare students to be productive, informed, and responsible citizens in a diverse and rapidly-changing society.
